Hey everyone, Coach Matt here again. Welcome back to part three of our blog series. If you read the last post about decoding our workouts, you know that we modify everything to fit your current fitness level. But there is another big question that often pops up when people first walk through the doors of Spark CrossFit. They ask me how on earth they are supposed to fit a new fitness routine into an already packed schedule.
Living and working around East Perth is fantastic, but we all know how fast the week flies by. Between office hours, grabbing a coffee on Royal Street, and catching up with friends, adding a workout routine to your plate can feel a bit overwhelming. The secret is that building a fitness habit is not about overhauling your entire life. It is about finding a sustainable rhythm that actually fits into your unique East Perth lifestyle.
The reality of building a lasting habit
When people decide they want to get fit, they often make the mistake of going from zero to one hundred. They commit to training six days a week, they burn out after a month, and they end up right back where they started. Building a lasting habit requires a completely different approach.
We believe that three or four days a week is the perfect sweet spot for beginners. It is enough frequency to learn the movements and start seeing incredible changes in your strength and energy, but it leaves plenty of room for your life outside the gym walls. Our classes are exactly one hour long. You walk in, you get a great warm-up, a structured workout with hands-on coaching, and a cool-down. Then, you get to go home and enjoy the rest of your day. It is highly efficient training designed for real humans with busy schedules.
Carving out the time
A lot of folks worry that starting a gym routine means they have to stop doing the other activities they already love. That could not be further from the truth. In fact, our style of training is the perfect addition to almost any active hobby you might have.
For example, you might be one of the many locals who enjoy a morning jog along the Swan River, or perhaps you attend a local Reformer Pilates class to work on core control and flexibility. You do not have to choose between those activities and building strength at Spark CrossFit. By adding just two days of strength and conditioning to your week, you build the muscular endurance to become a more resilient runner and complement the smaller stabilizing muscles you work on in Pilates. Everything works together brilliantly to create a balanced, capable body.
Consistency is the ultimate goal
Remember, consistency will always beat intensity. Showing up a few times a week, putting in a solid effort, and then going out to enjoy a weekend brunch or a walk by the water is the true recipe for long-term success. You do not need to live at the gym to see life-changing results.

Key takeaways
- Start small: Committing to three or four classes a week is the best way to build a sustainable habit without burning out.
- Prioritize efficiency: Our fully guided classes take exactly 60 minutes, getting you in, out, and back to your life.
- Enhance your hobbies: Functional training builds the strength and resilience needed to support your other active pursuits, whether that is running, Pilates, or recreational sports.
- Be realistic: Find a rhythm that fits smoothly into your lifestyle rather than fighting against your daily schedule.
